Red and green flashes in footage after capture (Sony HVR-Z7U)
Hi guys, I’m working on a documentary project with a Sony HVR-Z7U recording onto Mini DV tapes–all my footage looks great on playback on the LCD screen, but after capturing, when I review the footage, a lot of it gets periodic, seemingly random glitches in the footage. It’s only in the video and flashes red and orange– images below.
I’ve run a head cleaning tape through the camera and tried to re-record, but every time it seems to keep glitching–I’m not sure whether it’s consistently in the same spot, but I suspect that it is. I have no clue what to do to solve the problem, and it’s really ruining my day. Does anyone have any idea what’s happening here or how to fix it?

If the footage looks good on the cameras screen then you might have a faulty firewire port on the camera.
