With that limit they’ll probably look absolutely horrible or be the size of postage stamps.

That is quite right. The pre-movie ads look absolutely horrible here in Finland, but when the lights go out then those ads look alright.

You’re putting an effect in the clip that forces the footage to 8-bit. Is there some special artistic reason the B&W look should be baked baked in before grading?

One way to solve banding is to add grain to the shot.

Now you need to know if it will be a DCP or just a video file. Then you’ll want the resolution. Then you’ll need to know who will do the packaging for the DCP if it will be a DCP etc.

Glad to help. You can save pretty much customize the panel layout however you want to multiple monitors and save the work space when you are comfortable with it.

Smoke and Flame can be set to inclusive or exclusive out points. Quantel iQ can also be set to use either/or but if you’re using the VTR module to do tape stuff it’s always exclusive for some weird reason. I think our Clipster version uses exclusive in the source view but inclusive on the timeline.

I’d rather have it do one thing than have the option to change it. We have a bunch of different software in our company and a bunch of them have different ideas how the out point should be marked. It gets old pretty fast.
