I’ll add a little bit here…
- Yes, change media. Don’t use re-branded media like Maxell and Fuji, you simply do not know what you get. Maxell may be anything – for example garbage RITEK disks, Fuji can be Fuji or Taiyo Yuden, but it can also be RITEK or others. You want to get good media, so go for good quality media where you know who you are buying from. Taiyo Yuden is highly recommended, it is excellent media for a low price. There is a lot of junk out there, and the expensive media is rarely the best media. You should also get DVD identification software (lots of free ones out there, see the previously mentioned website) to make sure the DVDs you buy are what you think they are. The re-branded media from the big names like Sony etc, is rarely good.
- If you’re burning at the max, yes, slow down. If it is important that the burn is a good one, for example if you are sending it to a customer, burn at 2x max (IMHO). You’ll have less problems, and the wait for the burn is less of a problem than the trouble of re-burning bad disks.
- Stick-on lables are bad, bad and bad. If you want to print nice stuff on your DVD, get printable DVDs and an Epson printer (they are less than $100) and print directly to disk. I have an Epson for some stuff and a Lightscribe burner I use for other stuff. Lightscribe is slow as all heck, but I burn them when I am doing other stuff on my PC, so that isn’t a problem.
- If DVDA burns to your disk it is probably OK, no need to use Nero or anything (again IMHO). Fix any of the above issues first.

If you want to finish your projects in v7, take a backup of your v5 project files before you get started. Then you can safely open them in 7 and save them too. If something (against the odds) goes wrong, you have the original v5 project files and you are not a dead man 🙂

It rarely is a +/- issue, it is more the quality of the media. There is a lot of garbage out there, and when you buy garbage media you will produce more coasters than you wish.

If you can get some more of the Nero error messages (verbatime) that would help. It may be your burner is a little old, or it may be that your media is bad.

I would try a couple of small test projects to see if you could get it to work, but you may be running into trouble with this setup. There are may areas where things can go wrong, the “foreign” file system, the MacDrive interface with Windows XP etc.
You may save your self a lot of headache by getting a new drive, formatting it under Windows XP and transfering files using MacDrive (which is probably well tested, and works) and then run the project off the new drive.

No way of nudging events without full key board.”Most laptops have a way to set up a numeric keyboard on the regular keyboard. Check your UIO, JKL and M<> keys and see if there are numbers on them. If there are, there is a NumLock key somewhere as well. Press that and you have a numeric keyboard.
Problem: At the same time you disable your above mentioned keys, which includes JKL, which of course makes it a little bit of a pain.

Probably a media issue. There is A LOT of very bad DVD media out there. Go for Tayo Yuden or some of the quality media.

Not to nit-pick (if that is what I am doing) but Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark while you are absolutely correct in that Norway has beautiful fjords.
