The way I accomplish this is to create a bus track in the mixer view, send the audio track to that bus…and add the reverb to the bus instead of the audio track. You still need to make sure the audio plays past the end of the audio track, but your reverb will now trail instead of cutting off at the end of the audio event.

Jason,
I explained a situation I have been having burning CDs here:
https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/24/938931I stated in this earlier post that if I used my VEGAS 8.0c machine the CDs came out fine.
Well…I burned 10 CDs yesterday for a client (an album I had recorded in my studio months ago) and even my VEGAS 8.0c PC did the same thing as my new VEGAS 11 PC. The first CD I burned was fine but the subsequent nine were “muted”. The counter clicks away as the CD is “playing” but there is NO audio playing. It’s like the CD is muted. I re-burned the CDs and when it would finish and say “do you want to burn another disc?” I would click “NO”…then go to Tools, Burn Disc, Burn disc at once audio disc for each disc and they all played fine.
This is the first time my VEGAS 8.0c PC has had this problem.
I’m beginning to wonder about the VEGAS software these days. I was working on a simple photo montage last night and got the dreaded “Vegas has stopped working and will close” message at least 10 times. And this was a very simple photo montage…one track of photos, one track of text (just at the beginning and end), and one track of audio.
I really hope Sony is paying attention to all the complaints and are working on some updates.

Dave, I’m located in Eureka Springs, AR. You have some great and fun history in your story! I know what you mean about analog…I had my old B16 biased for Ampex 499 tape and it sounded amazing, most people couldn’t believe how clean it sounded. I have an old HP duel trace oscilloscope and kept that machine in tip top alignment…and it did sound good for 16 track 1/2″.
That’s one of the nice perks of digital…no alignments or adjustments every month or so to check that everything is top shape. I know my mixes sounded better when I mixed through my analog console…I have one of the first Mackie 32×8. But mixing in the box is just so handy with having total automation in Vegas by hitting the “save” button 🙂 .
I have four of the Niche ACMs (audio control module) which I used for automation back when mixing analog. They are really nice and transparent, but you’re limited to volume and mute and that’s it.
Being able to pull up a mix 6 months later in Vegas and it be exactly as you had it including all FX is pretty nice.It will be interesting to see what you come up with as far as the problem you’re experiencing. When I edit a track and “render as” then put it back to the HD24 it has always been fine…then again I’m monitoring out of my HD24 analog. I track and monitor analog in and out of the HD24. Do some experimenting when you get the chance and let us know your findings.

Dave, I do pretty much the same thing as you as far as bouncing tracks back and forth from the HD24. I have a FirePort, but I have been using one of those ViPower Super Racks for a while now, which is USB and does the same thing. It’s just easier for me, nothing to hook up, just slide the caddy in the rack and transfer files.
I’ve edited tracks in Vegas and transferred them back to the HD24 and have never experienced anything like you are describing. Then again, I always track at 48K. Not sure why or if that makes a difference.
I too still have my original blackface ADAT. I bought mine when they first came out along with the BRC. I actually started multitrack recording on a TEAC 1/4″ 4 track recorder in the late 70’s…then moved up to a Fostex B16 1/2″ machine and used it for several years before switching to digital with the ADAT.
Just out of curiosity, you might try recording a track using the internal clock of the recorder…transfer it to Vegas and back to the HD24 and see if you still have the problem. You might even try it first at 44.1K then again at 48K and see if there’s a difference.

Hi Dave,
I too use my HD24 for tracking and transfer my tracks to my PC for editing…but I also mix with Vegas. I use a couple of BRCs to control my HD24 so I leave my tracks at 48Khz since I use the BRC as my clock. The HD24 syncs great to the BRC at 48Khz but people have had problems when using 44.1.Have you tried tracking at 48khz 24 bit? Just curious, you might try keeping your tracks at 48 and see if you can tell a difference. I can’t imagine why your tracks would alter if you’re not putting any FX on them.
Let us know what you find out…I’d be curious to know.

This has not happened on just one project. It happens on any project that I try to burn an audio disc with. And it’s always original music recorded here in my recording studio. I record my tracks on my Alesis HD24 and import the tracks to my VEGAS PC and do the mixing in Vegas…rendering them to 44.1 16 bit WAV files.
I then create a new session in vegas…add the wav files as CD tracks in the order that I want them on the CD. I’ve done this numerous times on my previous Vegas computer and always worked fine. It’s just been with this new computer build that I’ve experienced this problem.
And as I’ve said…I do have the work around by burning each disc as a new burn and NOT clicking “yes” to “do you want to burn another disc”. It’s just annoying not knowing why this would happen.

Hey Mike,
I’m pretty sure the CD sessions are closed because they will in fact “play” on any CD player…in the fact that they will start counting off the time in the display…you just don’t hear anything. You can even click “next” and go to the next track and that track will start playing…but you hear nothing.I’ve done some pretty extensive experimenting trying to figure out what’s going on but the only thing that works is to start another burn for each CD instead of saying “yes” to “burn another disc”.
It’s baffling for sure.

November 10, 2011 at 11:00 pm in reply to: Anyone using Vegas to edit video from Canon XF100 or XF105 or XF300 or XF305?You might read some reviews from retailers. This is copied from a review on B&H website.
“I am not pleased that converting the files is so difficult and time consuming because of lack of plug-ins. The included viewing software is great for reviewing clips – but the only included plug-in is for Final Cut Pro for my Mac. I am not willing to purchase Final Cut Pro just to experiment with it. I have found a work-around, but loading 130 clips from a football game, one at a time into HandBrake for conversion, just takes way too long.
I hope Canon works fast and furious to help us get these files into our many and varied editing software programs”
