No go using VLC:

When I open the files in QuickTime, it says they’re XDCAM EX 1080p24. They’re on a hard drive a video producer gave my company, but there are no BPAV folders.
And, yeah, I’d like to edit them, but viewing would be a start (for now)… I’ll try VLC and maybe I can fake something from there. Since I’m not looking for anything high-end, maybe I can screencapture the playback…

Makes a lot of sense.
But, forgive me for this one if it’s basic, but where are the preferences for capturing video correctly? Or is it in the manual where I haven’t looked yet (’cause i DID look… i SWEAR!).

I do view everything on a television monitor while editing, and when I print to tape eveything is fine, it’s just when I export a QuickTime to use on in iDVD that I get the interlacing issues.

I’ve tried “Export-> Using QuickTime Conversion…” and that still usually gives me the interalcing.

When I have this problem, it’s playing on my computer, going through an AJA IO, and either onto my monitor, or to my Beta deck. Worst part is it’s not a straight “it’s off by X frames” problem, and sometimes it seems as if it’s off more than other times, so I get it lined up PERFECTLY, but then re-edit some other area and the audio is out os sync… again.
And what I see/hear on my computer during editing is pretty much what I get on tape.
