    Hi,

Sometimes when I import a Photoshop file into FCP I get a great sequence that I can edit and play with layers and call my own as an actual FCP4.5 sequence.

OTHER TIMES I import a file, and although I can use it in my main timeline, I can’t edit it as a sequence. I get an error stating that I don;t have the right codec, and then an “Out of memory” error.

What am I missing (other than my diginity)?

    Thanks!

PS The image is RGB, not CMYK, and there aren’t any masks, layer effects nor paths.

    Hi,

Typically this is caused by having an empty layer in the psd file.

Check that first, if not on to the next step!

    Regards,
    Troy

are you using a x-large resolution file? I got a similar message when I attempted to import a very large file for a pan-scan.

No, I don’t think it’s too big (I get that error sometimes too when a file IS huge):
    445 x 500 pixels
    72 dpi
    7 layers
    About 2.3MB
