i’m the newbie here with the 60d and i would love some info on the firmware update for the 60d, specifically, how do i find out what firmware is already installed on my 60d? canon’s site warns that 1.09 must be applied to cameras with 1.08 firmware, but they don’t tell you how to find out what existing firmware you have. Thanks

yeah, i was in a pinch. and as I mentioned in my original post, local stores don’t carry the 16gb class 6 cards. it was weird. i really needed the cards and an office depot had the kodaks. 80.00 a piece. luckily i could return them, which i did after copying the contents and backing them up three times on external drives.

This is a great discussion. Glad I posted it. Seems that some of the confusion may begin with the Photoshop image size settings; scale, resize & constrain. If you adjust the dpi of any image the pixels or width & height will change accordingly. So you are really changing the dimensions when changing the dpi, although dpi has nothing to do with video but print. I’ve been following the same guidelines as Jeffrey but the recent posts have provided more insight. Thanks

So then the shimmering is only an artifact of my computer monitor, but playing out to a DV recorder & confidence monitor, that shimmer should not be present right? If it is present, which I have seen, what alterations can be done to a very large sized image that will reduce any flickering in DVNTSC?

January 8, 2011 at 3:48 am in reply to: Sony SLT-A55 or Canon 550D?

Did you continue your research and if so, what other info do you have to share? I’m looking to buy either the Sony A55 or the Canon 60D with the flip out screen. The A55 doe have a small mono speaker that at least you can use to determine that you are recording audio. I would still buy a BeachTek or Juicebox for either. I shoot mostly ENG and I’ve tested the Canon RebelT2i. I love the images I get and so for myself I think the Sony A55 or Canon 60D would be great or I might just wait until the next model Nikon, Sony or Canon comes out with a swivel screen and headphone jack. Glad you posted this.
