we actually have the newer 4TB lacie external RAID drives for all our editing bays, but I have these three SANCUBES around and they work perfectly and we can install larger PATA drives, 7200 or 5400 rpm. I just can’t see wasting RAIDS that allow for at least one stream of HD and are firewire 800 based. They can at least be used for TimeMachine backups.

Thanks again for the great info. I’m so behind on getting a new mac that can handle the ingest of HDMI footage. I’m still using a sonnettech processor enhanced PowerMac dual G4. I do have a MacIntel MacbookPro though and I use it to edit my HDV and AVCHD footage. I’ve read about both the AJA and Black Magic products. Both are on the wish list. Not sure which route to go but since I”m on the laptop the AJA KiPro is looking very tasty. I”ll have to do some price checking an compare that investment with just getting a Mac tower and then a HDMI card. I defiitely want the highest quality possible. Thanks again.

Thanks for the info. One small image question. I have made the switch to small cameras for my TV production work. Have you ever compared your HFS10 or 11 on a scope with a HDV or Sony XDCAM? I’m curious about the quality and at this point I’m positive I can shoot my programs on these small AVCHD cams @ 1920 x 1080 and sell them internationally. Domestically may not fly and I’ll probably have to get a EX1 or JVC HM700. What do you think?
