Helping conform a feature doc and we’ve been having big problems getting a PPro5.0 project out as OMF in either 5, 5.5 or 6 for that matter. Anyone here have success exporting long form recently. We’ve tried shorter reels with no success either and are trying to pinpoint the problem. Anyone here have success exporting multi cam sequences? Does this create problems for anyone else? One of our short 10min duration tests on just two tracks had success but the multicam audio was not present at all.

Primary formats are EX1 native MP4 video and audio, and 7d native in timeline. All mp3 instances have been conformed to AIFF but doesn’t seem to help.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Same issue as others, though this does not effect every project oddly. Beyond annoying! If you are a keyboard editor touching the mouse is not an option as it slows you down tremendously.

A work around I’ve been using is the “Mark Clip” Function “X”. you can mark the gap and then hit delete, this is the fastest workaround I’ve found to date.

For calculating storage needs, how many GBs you’ll need, and determining aprox how many MB per second throughput you’ll need out of your drive go here. Also, get the widget, a must have little tool.

    Thanks Guys,

Sounds like I should be good to go as long as the cables are nicely shielded.

Would you try and keep the component cable of this equation on the shorter side? (HVX to AD Converter) and use the HDSDI cables to stretch the longer distance? (AD Converter to Kona3)
Just curious if anyone has a huge preference either way.

I think since I’ll only be about 30 or so feet away I may keep the component cable to the AD Converter short and have it live with the stationary camera setup and then use the HDSDI to stretch the distance from the AD Converter to the Kona3.

    Thanks for the help,
    Ted

February 18, 2009 at 2:34 pm in reply to: White Sparkles with 8-bit Output

I had the latest AJA firmware and drivers with the seemly frame specific white “sparkles” or “white pixels”.

I just rolled back the Firmware as suggested by others here and we are looking good again.
AJA Utilities -> AJA KONA Firmware Updater.app

I’ll report back with any issues should they arise again, and I’ll be contacting AJA anyway so they are aware that this is not an isolated issue.

    Thanks everyone!

I noticed this about a week ago on some DVCProHD from P2 coming out though a Kona 3, thought it might be the files, but its on everything regardless of source, codec, 8bit or 10bit, and not viewable in QT. I’ve been out of town but will be calling AJA as well.

Curious to know what the verdict is and such a relief to know I’m not the only one.

Thanks Jeremy, I’d like to cut in 23.98 for storage reasons but need to re-check my deliverables and see if that will fly, otherwise, 60 will be the answer.

Thanks for the honest to goodness help. 🙂

It is certainly not honest to goodness…. but I’ve heard that the Sony M35U will play it back and allow for capture at 23.98 or 29.97.

February 2, 2009 at 9:52 pm in reply to: Capturing 23.98 Varicam to 29.97 via 1400 deck?

    Hi Jeremy,

The formats we are using are Varicam 720p59.94 shot at 23.98fps Loading from 1400.
    and
Some, but not much Canon 1080i 24f (cross-converted to 720p via Kona 3) loading from Sony M35U.

The intent was to capture both at DVCProHD 720p at 29.97 if it was possible, but it sounds like that’s not feasible? Cutting in 60 is fine, though it requires double the storage and bandwidth and I was trying to keep everything in 29.97 throughout for that issue.

Another option I guess, would be to load and cut everything in 23.98 and when we online/conform throw the 23.98 material in a 59.94 timeline and lay in 60p graphics/lw3rds etc.

    Thanks,
    Ted
