AAF and OMF Export CS6
Posted by Greg Jones on May 11, 2012 at 4:22 pmSo I’m new to Premiere Pro, From Final Cut Pro and AVID. I did a small edit, which went fairly smooth. I’ve tried exporting an AAF for my audio guy and he cannot open it in ProTools. I thought I’d try an OMF, but the program crashes anytime I try to export out an OMF. Anyone else try this?

May 11, 2012 at 6:05 pmI’ve done 4 omf exports so far no problem.
try setting it for encapsulated, trim audio files and 300 frame handles.
thats the settings I’ve used successfully in cs 5.5 and 6

May 11, 2012 at 8:16 pmYeah. It doesn’t crash on every project. Just a couple a projects do it. Maybe PP doesn’t like a certain file. I also haven’t had luck with my audio guy being able to open the aaf file I’ve sent him from PP.

May 18, 2012 at 3:40 amHelping conform a feature doc and we’ve been having big problems getting a PPro5.0 project out as OMF in either 5, 5.5 or 6 for that matter. Anyone here have success exporting long form recently. We’ve tried shorter reels with no success either and are trying to pinpoint the problem. Anyone here have success exporting multi cam sequences? Does this create problems for anyone else? One of our short 10min duration tests on just two tracks had success but the multicam audio was not present at all.
Primary formats are EX1 native MP4 video and audio, and 7d native in timeline. All mp3 instances have been conformed to AIFF but doesn’t seem to help.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

August 19, 2012 at 1:19 amIm exporting a feature doc omf for my sound mixer. It was coming up with warnings before I would start the export saying that some transitions may not work right, etc. It said that it won’t stop the export but recommended that I replace/remove the problematic transitions. I removed the transitions. No more warnings, but when I start the OMF export it gets a little over 1/3 of the way and stalls. I left for about 3 hours came back and it hand’t move past the 1/3. I see that people seem to be having problems when it comes to long format. Has anyone out there successfully exported a long format/feature omf from Premiere CS6?

September 13, 2012 at 4:48 pmHere’s a solution that worked for me. Create a new sequence with the settings you want. Copy the old sequence (command+A on Mac) and paste into the new sequence (command + v)
Also, you need to be very patient with the OMF export. It can seem to hang, then chug along again.
