Absolutely makes sense, very cool and thanks for the clarification.

Can anyone elaborate on how this might work with HD Log?

    Thanks,
    Ted

    Thanks Jeremy.

To clarify, if my work drive fails and all I have to reload from is the backup of my P2 content, so I copy the backup of P2 content to the work drive, and will need to reconnect to it, providing that the metadata was saved to the backup P2 content as well, a simple reconnect does it? or is there any other step within MXF4Mac?

    Thanks for the insight,
    Ted

    >>What speed MacBook Pro do you have now, or do you only have the new one?

Don’t have a MBP yet, will purchase or rent. (I’d be more inclined to purchase if it had a matte screen :-))

    >>With 720p 23.98, you should be able to get real time transcode. I have the slowest MBP that is rated for the ioHD and I can get a realtime transcode from 720p23.98 footage. I wouldn’t complete a whole project with it, but for what you need it for, you will be totally fine. If not, just put it on a ProRes timeline and render.

    Good to know, Thanks Jeremy.

Cool, I will try to do some tests to see how well it fairs before entering into a pressured situation.
Should be working with 720p 23.98.

Thanks for the help and brainstorm,

Yes, there will be some cutting done, nothing crazy in terms of effects, but at the very least assembling rough cuts.

    Sure does.
I’ve done this on a MP 8Core with no problem at all, have you had success with this on a MBP? How taxing do you find this to the MBP system, are you still able to work fairly quickly or does this make for a substantial slow down. Drive speed shouldn’t provide a bottleneck as I’ll be working off of a CalDigit HDPro, just concerned about processing power.

Compressor is not really a viable option on set for speed reasons. I would be great if the P2 material could just be transcoded on ingest, one step in FCP.

    Thanks,
    Ted

Well after 2 trys at a re-install (if we are not counting the first install which was a re-haul.) the results are the same.

With Quickcluster set, cluster never appears as selectable option in Compressor.
With Services with cluster controller set, ContentAgent is not responding.

I’ve had my issues with Compressor, but I really do not remember it being this difficult the last time I set up Qmaster/Compressor.

Any other ideas? tricks to getting Qmaster up? Is 10.5.5 the issue here? Anyone else having trouble?

    Thanks

Thanks Jeremy, I did as suggested. I was once set up this way before on a previous system and it worked fine, now however I’m getting ContentAgent not responding error.

I know this particular issue has been discussed at length on the cow, but if you have any quick ideas that’s be appreciated, thanks

    Hi Jeremy,

With QMaster preferences set at “Quickcluster with services” Compressor hangs up and eventually gives me the ContentAgent server not found notice. With Qmaster set to “Services and Cluster Controller” Compressor just sits there and never starts rendering and the Qmaster remains idle.

    Any ideas? Thanks so much,
    Ted
