You can either drag the clip in from windows explorer or right-click on a empty area of the project panel and click import>file. once you have your clips imported then you just double click the composition and drag each clip from the Project Panel to your Composition Timeline.
I’f you want to replace a clip that’s already there: select the clip (placeholder) you want to replace in the Timeline, go to your project panel and drag the clip you want to replace it with and before you let go hovering over the placeholder, hold the alt key.

No, your right clicking on a composition. You need to make sure it’s either a picture, movie, or sound file that your right-clicking on. It’ll say what type of file it is in the “Type” column next to the names of the files/compositions.

Put Effect>Distort>Optics Compensation on it. Hit “Reverse Lens Distortion”. Then turn Field Of View up until you get your desired effect.

Make sure your not right-clicking on a composition, iv’e done it before. As far as i know, the replace footage option should never be greyed out. If you’ve got the option then you could replace the actually footage in finder/windows explorer.

From my primitive knowledge of how layers work in AE, i believe it’s because AE looks at layer styles as if they were part of the layer itself meaning that an alpha matte will actually cut away drop shadows, bevels and so on. Where as effects are applied at the end of all the layer processing like alpha mattes.
Terminology may be a little off there and im sure one of the more experienced members can correct me if im wrong.

Precomp it (you’ve done that already) and then put the Drop Shadow Layer Style on the precomp not on the matted layer inside the precomp. So you should end up having that precomp “Track Matte Comp” with a drop shadow layer style on it.,

To bring the text into final cut then make sure you have alpha channel turned on in the render settings and also make sure its set to “millions of colors+” the “+” being for the alpha channel. And Pro Res 4444 should do it fine. When you bring it into FCP make sure the alpha of the text clips are set to straight.
Just one small thing, if your going to make some fancy transitions for the text to come in then it’s probably easier to pre comp the text then parent it to the null object, that way you can do all the designing and editing in a separate comp, may make it easier.

If all the stamps are the exact same size then you could apply a Color Key to an adjustment layer and then mask the place where the inner part of the stamp, press M on the adjustment layer and invert the mask you’ve just made. You can play around with the Color Key settings till you get crips edges.
Good luck.

May 30, 2013 at 7:49 pm in reply to: Issue with multiple precomps’ rotation with Slider controlyou could always make sure the little Equals sign/icon is on, sometimes it can be pressed by mistake.
Also if its for rotation not orientation, it might not be a bad idea to use an Angle Control instead.
If the above fails then you could maybe try precomping again after time-remapping.

You could try duplicating the text and vector animation, then setting it to alpha track matte and change the colour of the duplicated text. That’s the most solid way i can think of.
