1. Is there no FIND in Avid ? Got lots of clips in my bin, and I just easily want to find clip number 345345 (can’t sort on numbers ..)
GO to the fast menu (hamburger menu) in the bottom left corner of your bin. Select “Custom Sift”, you can show only those entries that match wha you are sifting by.
Go back and select “Show Unsifted” when you are done.

Congrats on the new aquisition. The online bay at work ,formerly a Symphony (I forget which version, but it was on OSX, 10.1, I believe) now it’s an adrenaline 1.6. The difference in performace speed is amazing.
Yes, it’s always the editor that makes something good, not the tool. But being able to import graphics in seconds instead of minutes, and not haing to render a sequence for HOURS will make you more money, because time is money. Also, I (heart) sapphire.

Try nesting everything into a submaster clip (in your effects bin under image). You can nest everything into that (Or that as a new clip to move around and junk.

I disagree. Stick to their GOP structure. There is probably a very specific reason (such as the hardware of subscribers being able to decode). If the client give you specific specs, adhere to them.

Export a QT reference file and pop that into squeeze. Squeeze shold have all those options.

Avid’s Unity drives. Pricey, but excellent.

I don’t know about the G5, but in windows, there’s a read me file that tells you how to optimize your computer’s settings. It’s like Night and Day. I would check and make sure there’s nothing like that. Also, look for any wacky software conflicts, ie., 4.8 not working with your version of the OS, having some upgraded version of Safari or iTunes that make Avid buggy.
It’s always something weird like that.

Hey look different fonts types and sizes in one title”No, no, no. Everything Final Cut does is good, everything Avid does is bad.
There’s some awesome things about Final Cut. I don’t know why people have to taint that with some form of competition and sense of ownership. Doesn’t help anyone.
