  • TechTool 5 said all RAM was dandy, and the drives have all checked out, so ya i’m guessing its’ some plug-in or something. Here we go back to that backup disc…

    : )

Ya…and my favorite dumb mistake to find in the morning: “Error – Disk full” (why can’t it tell you that BEFORE a 5 hour render?) Oh well, i’ve learned the hard way.

Thanks Michael. I did do a quick search for background render, but failed to search for the second machine thing. Thanks!

  • Thanks Steve…but can it be interactive? I watched the demo and it seems to end up creating a single video clip…that just runs from beginning to end (though pausible, of course). Client needs something to stop at a certain point, ask a question, then move on (possibly even to a different section decided by the answer to the question). I’ve also looked into “Blackboard”, and it looks like it might be the one. I hope to find a local expert to hire out to subcontract this part of the project. Know anyone in the PDX, OR area? Of course, it can probably also be done over the air, so can live anywhere these days…

October 11, 2012 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Quickbooks or Quicken?

I know this thread is four years old, but my Quicken Home and Business 2009 is no longer supported by Quicken, i.e., i can’t get no mo’ downloads from my bank, so just seeing if there has been any progress made in the area of a Q H&B for Mac these days (yes, still short of QB). I’m about to run to Office Depot to get a disc, but just thought i would check. Still got my little XP PC sitting here JUST for Quicken…

…trying some other tests out of FCP via sending to Compressor, but it is SO slow this way…though i’m guessing this will give me best results…

Thanks…i always do render out a self-contained, but if i drop the HD QT onto the 720×480 droplet, it always renders it “squished”, the 16×9 squished horizontally into the 4:3 droplet. This is why i’ve always gone back to FCP and dropped the HD QT onto an SD timeline to render out a SD letterboxed master…but it does seem to lose something in quality with this extra step.

  • Shane and Kylee, thanks for the reminder about going to 4444 (and don’t forget the “+”!). I liked working in FCP a little better, mainly because of what i could do with shadows that Motion wasn’t letting me do. Although, from FCP, i keep getting the graphic rendered with chunks of picture missing. Really weird. I’ll keep at it, but it’s off to a good start. Thanks again…
