ya, that makes sense. i wasn’t using them in a RAID, but simply for archiving. . . but those will be that first and last greenies i buy. thanks for the confirmation that it’s the drive technology.

Ya, thanks Mike. And a workaround is to put the 3TB drives in an internal slot, partition them so the partitions are all less than 2TB, take the drives out and then the Thermaltake works great with them.

Almost 6 years old, and it looks like nothing changed. I was trying to do this as well…just make an mp3 right off the FCP timeline. My workaround was to export and aiff, then drop it in iTunes and “create MP3 version.” It works, but two extra steps. Anyone have a better way?

Thanks a bunch, Simon! Ya, that’s’ it…and i’m curious, too, why they default it the other way.

Now, i’m looking for a quick easy way to have the edges of a photo or images fade off to transparent all around the edges in Motion. Any ideas on that one? Of course, i’ve played around with making a mask, softening the edges, etc., but it seems like there oughta be a quicker way???

Great to hear, James. On my last full clean install, i tried Mountain Lion…and then saw how my system just didn’t like it. THEN i went to the forums to see that i shouldn’t have tried it in the first place. : ) So did another full clean reinstall to go back to Snow Leopard. Ran great for a few days, then started the beach ball again. After further looking at my drives today, my main media probably is a bit too full, so i’m archiving some stuff off of it right now and will see if that does der trick. Thanks for the input.

Dang…same here, again, no final solutions yet? I’ve trashed prefs, hard drives aren’t too full, i even did a full reinstallation of everything about 6 weeks ago. Mostly ran great for awhile, now back to this. Maybe some utility that was added? i don’t know…

I was having this problem this morning, so came here to ye gurus. Read this thread, then just tried restarting (didn’t even trash prefs or waveform cache) and voila, they’re all back…and this is on a very recent reinstall of my whole system where everything had been running swimmingly up until this morning. I also noticed at the same time i was having the “no waveform” problem, when i click play on the timeline, the video and audio would play on my monitor, but the cursor wouldn’t move on the timeline.

Oh, to wish for a real FCP Ocho rather than the jump to X (which i have not yet done anyway…still on 7.0.3). Sorry i wasn’t any help here, but hopefully your waveforms are showing back up?
