Good point, because that could do it too! However, I do have the css file in the same folder. And it is working now.

I haven’t put the site up yet as I’m just getting started. Thanks for responding. These points not only help me but may help someone else!

Yes, I did that, but it also stripped out all the codes so that the style sheet wasn’t referenced and none of the formating was there. So I came up with another work-around! I opened the file in the browser and went to “View Source.” That showed me all the coding and text. I copied that and put it into TextEdit, already set for plain text. Then I had a file I could edit and all the coding was there!

Thanks for encouraging me to wrestle with this! It feels so good when an answer comes through the mist!

No, it didn’t change the extension to .txt but to .html. However, I have just discovered that TextEdit strips all coding from the document by making it a “plain text” document. so that is exactly the problem, it is no longer referencing the style.css stylesheet! How do I put the html web document in a text editor that I can preserve the codes from the template and make changes?

I appreciate your help on this. I’ll be happy if I can just play with code. I don’t want to take the time to learn GoLive or another program.

    Walter,

You were exactly right. When I switched the cables around it worked perfectly! Thank you so much! I’m non-technical and couldn’t be enjoying the creativity of editing without your help and the Cow. The Cow has bailed me out many times!

Thanks for setting me straight! Susan

Oops, now I see what you mean by looking in Help, which is in the program. I am printing it out. Hopefully, this will answer everything. Thanks a million!

Eric: Sounds as if this would do it. I’m hoping this is not a big deal! I downloaded MPEG Stream and put it in my Applications folder. It showed up on my finder as a Device. It contains the application and a folder of extras, but the extra docs don’t really tell me how to use it. Got any tips?

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my question! Your comment about field dominance is definitely something I wouldn’t have thought of and will check it out.

The option in Compressor for CBR only allows one pass. Is it necessary in this case to avoid VBR?

I don’t see where to alter Dialog Norm or compression. I thought the bit rate of 6.0 would affect compression.

Thanks again for any help or hints you can give me. Susan

False alarm. I rebooted the computer, opened an old project on another drive, and all worked fine. So I closed that project and opened the one that I had moved, and it opened up too. Guess I could have explored a bit more before panicking, but who know when my mistakes will help someone else!

Thanks. That wasn’t obvious. I’m glad it was so simple. Susan
