Did you try pushing the “record” button? I don’t mean putting the deck into record. I just mean pressing the record button. That’s how my Beta and DVCAM decks work.

This was done by a machine shop with a CNC machine. Very easy to do if you have the gear.

I have. We had a shot in one of our features where we wanted to start on a girl writing in her diary and pull out to reveal that she was lying on her bed. I made an “L” shaped plate that allowed me to hang the camera from a rope and the rope was in line with the center of the lens. I attached a pulley to a ceiling joist (board between ladders) We then rotated the camera three times clockwise, started the record, let the camera go and pulled gently on the rope. the camera rotated CCW and pulled away from the subject. We repeated this several times with faster and slower rotation. Looked big $$$ and cost me around $20.

We just completed a 2 minute nation spot for a dog heath product and no one will take an HD package. Of course “no one” doesn’t mean everyone but it does include some major distribution networks. Digibeta yes, HDCAM No.

Went out for wings last week and my sissy little self ordered plain wings with a side of medium sauce. On the bill was a charge for $ .50 for the side of sauce, which would have been all over the wings if I’d ordered them that way. When I asked the waiter why, he said that they put butter on the plain wings so the sauce is now a “side order”. I asked why he didn’t tell me when I ordered it, he said “It’s only fifty cents” in a kind of a smart ass way. No problem.
I did not tip him.
I will never return to that restaurant.
It was his duty to tell me about the charge when he took the order.And, it’s not about 50 lousy cents. It’s about them thinking that it was OK to do what they did.
And, I will tell everyone who cares that I won’t return to that establishment, ever. And remember, it was only fifty cents. By the way, I’ve been eating there for 30 years.
Do you get my point?

Ah well. They were worn out anyway. Would have been nice if my two year lease was done. When it is, we’ll have to pay a buy out to the leasing company. Cameras used to be good for 5 years before they were abandoned by the mother ship. Not no mo!
