I can second the APC units. We use the 1400RM. Make sure you budget for battery replacement. We get 3 to 4 years use from a set a batteries.

One other thought – Did you finalize the DVD? Is that an option on your burner? I’ve had standard DVD-R that had to be finalized before they would play on any other player. Not so for DVD-RW.

There is a free media management program out there called MDV.

Not much in the way of a tutorial but pretty easy to figure out.
Only works on Windows machines though.

We just went through the same thing, our Full Size QT DV/DVCPRO outputs were washed out. Adjusting the QT filters (Brightness and Contrast) are a good suggestion but in our case changing the capture setting from RGB to 601 fixed things. HTH Steve

March 20, 2009 at 7:58 pm in reply to: error code on PVW-2800

Error 90 is Key Interface Error. “The interface between the keyboard and system control is defective.” The manual points to a problem with the SS48 board or the key pad itself. Did the ribbon cable on the key pad get pinched?

That error refers to tape slack detected during playback or recording. In addition to bad tape it could be the reel motor, the motor brake, the reel sensor or a bad circuit card.

No, we viewed the footage and there was no direct laser to lens shot. Several frames looked like the CCD got overloaded though. When we step through they look like a green splash.

How are you feeding the beta deck? are the decks locked (sync’d) together? is the video input switch on the Beta set to 75 ohm On or Off? has anyone monkeyed around with either deck lately? other than those things it should be a straight forward process. BTW – How did you old cable “fry”

That error refers to a problem with the supply reel circuit. It sounds like time to find a service center.
