The best (I’ve heard) marker is a chevron, creating a point where the software can focus.

    Chevron: a V or an L.

FF creates a NURBS patch on a layer in AE. You can use displacement maps and bezier-corner distort the patch in three dimensions.

But it still creates a movie of a 3D patch on one of AE’s flat layers. It’s best used for flags, banners and 3D displacement of planes.

    Full 3D functionality? Mmmm … no. 🙂

    Hmmm …. nope.

You need to duplicate the comp and set the desired camera (wide, tele, whatever) to the active camera for each comp, but switching off the other cameras for that comp.

Then you render the three comps in a batch.

    AE hasn’t required a dongle since v.5.

AE has adopted a new serial number setup since then. Have you tried checking their support site for installation and serial number info?

    1. Create the image and drag it into your composition. Make it as tall as (or taller than) your final movie.
    2. Make sure (by adjusting its scale) it touches the top and bottom of the screen at the same time.
    3. Animate the logo’s position property across the screen using keyframes.
    4. Render the movie with an alpha channel (composition>make movie) to the Quicktime Animation codec. To make sure it has an alpha channel, make sure the Output Module is rendering to millions+ and RGB+alpha. Check with your editor to find out exactly what format he/she wants.
    5. The editor will then drop this graphic into the show to cover the edge of a regular wipe. He/she may need to tilt the edge of the wipe, depending on the design of the logo.

    That’s one way.

  • You can use the Corner Pin effect, but I believe it’s only available in the Pro version of AE.

  • What are your sequence settings in FCP? Render to that codec.

… and make sure you’re viewing at high quality in FCP.

    “Yesh, my dear Moneypenny …”

Did you rotate the stroke around the Y axis in the 3DStroke controls?
Did you move the stroke closer to camera (position Z)?

You mean those yellow-gold strokes that appear in twos or threes every now and then? They look like 3D stroke to me. I say that because the strokes don’t interact in 3D space with anything else.

If it is 3D stroke, you just draw a curvy stroke with the pen tool, rotate it in 3D stroke, then tweak the position of the stroke’s mask points until it looks right. The tweaking is weird, since it doesn’t go where you expect, so you might want to tweak the mask points in a layer window and see the result in another comp window. Or not. 🙂

To make them zip by, just animate the start and end point.
Use the taper setting for sharp ends.
There should be other settings for opacity if I recall.

    That should be it …
