My old compuiter started with AE 4.1 which used the dongle to make it the “Pro” version.
I later updated to 6.5, still using the dongle and the old computer.
Finally have a new computer, but with no space for the dongle and 6.5 ain’t working.
    Any ideas?

    AE hasn’t required a dongle since v.5.

AE has adopted a new serial number setup since then. Have you tried checking their support site for installation and serial number info?

Just out of curiosity, how did your dongle work? The last version of AE I have a dongle for is v4, and it’s ADB. Did you have a USB version?

Mine was parallel on Windows. Fat red thing with a big A on it. Still have it.

I think they also had both ADB and USB around that time, with a dongle swap program … ?

Yep — big red with an A on it.
Can’t figure out how to talk to Adobe… have you seen a phone # lately?

Non-USB. Do you know how to contact them (adobe) other than message boards?

Thanks. It took a couple of hours to get it, get thru, and resolve.
Turns out — it has something to do with the iFinish software I run, but darned if we know what it is….
the solution was to drag the professional folder onto the desktop, open the program and then drag back in.
Weird, but it worked. Neither him nor I know why, just sort of stumbled on it.
Thanks for your help! I do appreciate it! -d-
