Yeah, it’s an MPEG-2 camcorder. Convert the footage as Darby suggested before you do anything with it in AE. Then we’ll see what’s what.

I’m with Darby. Use QT Pro or something to encode the footage to something like Photo-JPEG or Animation, then replace the footage in AE with this re-encoded footage.
By the way, can you check which camera was used? Check the baseplate.

Here’s what I just did:
– import footage, add to comp
– make black solid, mask it
– select footage layer, open tracker controls
– select motion source (footage)
– hit “track motion”
– target is automatically selected as black solid, but you might have to edit target
– “analyze” the track
– hit “apply”There should be more in the Help.

Use 3D Max or another 3D app. No question about it.

Make a black solid, then draw a rectangular mask on the solid.
option 1: Keyframe the mask shape property, then scale and move the mask when you have to.
option 2: keyframe the solid’s scale and position properties when you have to.
option 3: keyframe the solid’s scale when you have to, but for position, track the shirt and apply the tracker to the solid’s position.
option 4: apply the tracker to the solid’s position and rotation, then keyframe the mask’s shape when you have to.I’d do #4.

“Composition>make movie” adds your selected comp to the render queue using the default Render Settings and Output Module. To be honest, I haven’t found a difference between that and “add to Render Queue”. Anybody?
I was thinking you might have been using File>Export, which wouldn’t give you the choice of any Quicktime codecs, and MJPEG-A is one of those.
You can find MJPEG-A if you choose one of the options I recommended then go into the Output Module, make sure Quicktime is selected, then under “options”, look for the MJPEG-A codec.
