The footage may have been interpreted improperly, or dragged into a comp with a frame rate double that of the footage. So the footage would only advance after two clicks.

Transparency, yes. I don’t use Max, but I’d imagine you would render the scene with alpha channel, or 32-bit.

However … if you want the background to show up as reflections and refractions in the objects, you have to add the background behind the objects within Max, so it can make all the necessary calculations of the footage bouncing around in and off the objects.

Shine should be applied in an adjustment layer over the entire clip, so it can “read” the brighter background layer, and also appear over the shattered solid. Try setting Shine to “add” mode, and apply Shatter to a black layer for best effect, over a white solid in the background.

Three layers: adjustment layer (shine), black layer (shatter), white solid.

I haven’t seen a lot of expression posts here for a while. Did you try posting in the AE expressions COW?

Are all of your plugins compatible with CS3?

Some plugins need to be updated to work with CS3.

Hm. I don’t know what kind of a different look you want, but all I can say is: pump up the colours. The faded, no-red look may be for effect, but to me it looks unfinished.

For the rest, you’ll have to do some experimenting to get the look and process you want.

Hmm … so you want to steady the vignette, and let the picture inside bobble about? I’d try using AE’s Tracker to stabilize the shot, but by tracking part of the vignette … because that’s what you want to stabilize.

But that could be tough … anybody else?
