I agree — it must lie with the encoder.

I had no problem making a 3072 x 768 WMV on the Mac, using Flip4mac in AE.

Maybe you could render to Quicktime, then use another app to convert QT to WMV?

Ah — of course, you’re right Darby.

That’ll teach me to use my eyeball instead of AE … 🙂

It sounds as if you want this played back on three 1024×768 monitors. Now, I’m on a Mac, so I have to Export to make Windows Media. I use the Flip4mac plugin, and it allows me to export using the current size.

Could you run us through the dialogs, options and settings you get and use when making your WMV file? There might be a setting we’ve overlooked.

(and which platform are you on?)

In the timeline are little indicators for keyframe locations. When you’re on a keyframe, the center box is checked. When you’re to the left or right of the keyframe, one or both of the little arrows are active. You can use those arrows to check for leftover keyframes causing motion.

To see what is moving, use one of the custom views, independent of the camera.

Or, if the camera is panning, and nothing is moving, you may be seeing parallax? Hold your finger up in front of your eye, close the other eye, and pan your head around the finger. Do you see the background shift? If this is the problem, can you parent the BG to the camera?

… which would be the case if you rendered to DV using AE. 🙂

In the Output Module, look for the “options” button when you choose TGA sequence. Then choose 32 bits, not 24.

  • This is actually an Encore question. Find out what image/movie formats Encore needs for menus, then make those in AE.

Nope. FCP will have to compress the Animation movie anyway to match the DV sequence, so just render to DV in AE, then when you bring it back into FCP, FCP won’t have to recompress it, since it will already be in DV, like your FCP sequence.

This assumes that you don’t want to do a lot of effects in FCP after you’ve done the AE render.

Just checking: your comp is set to “advanced render”, right?
