Stoke around 0% opacity
I tried to search the forum for this, but I want sure how to word it, and I’m sure that’s the reason I wasn’t able to find what I was looking for (U2?)
I have some footage shot in front of a green screen. I key out the talent, and apply a stroke to it. What I’d like to do is take the opacity of the talent down, but keep the stoke visible so that I have outlines of people walking around. Basically mimicking the effect at the beginning of super bad.
If anyone has a name for this affect or anything, it would be awesome. Thank you.

You could duplicate your layers and use a track matte.

Or, if your using CS3, you might try using the layer style called Stroke (like in photoshop) and then set the layer style blending options property called “Fill Opacity” to 0. THat will leave the stroke, while hiding the image.
You may need to pre-comp the keyed layer before doing that.

I found the fill opacity and dropped it down, sadly the stroke wasnt quite was lacking. Is there a way to give the stroke a vector (from Illustrator) look? Obviously it cant match exactly, but is there a way to get the lines looking any cleaner?

then, maybe use the keyed actor as an inverted alpha matte for the outline layer?
