I am no mac expert either Mike,
But my two cents…would be to port everything to a hard drive as
you are thinking of doing…..If this is done, there is no way their
can be any stumbling blocks when its being imported in Vegas.

Even as jeremy pointed out in his above post…”a majority of them are useful and expedite workflows”.
You have to understand Rick that vegas can achieve many things as i
have said in my previous post, But plugins make the work flow
a little more varied and speedy…..and with more than one option to
achieve a certain look or feel it opens up a wider channel for you
to be creative to create variations and different styles to your projects that you create. You need variations.

Indeed, i use all three and i treasure them highly:

Velvetmatter: Especially has a defocus filter that emulates perfect depth-of-field that when used with vegas precise masking can create that cinematic feel to a shot.

Newbluefx: Especilly love its color grading and 3D transition effects.

Vasst: Its usefullness is too numerous to mention in one post.

Well,Yes, the more you use vegas, the more you find yourself discovering things you never knew vegas can do…this application is absolutely limitless….but the most impressive thing about vegas for me as an NLE is how well it does compositing that no other NLE can come near to match.

Well…lets hope now that whenever you feel that silly moment coming again you give your credit card to someone trustworthy to hide it until it wears off. (smile).

NO, i would not advise you to do that. Not while you are in the midst of your work.
Try capturing using an external capture utility for the time being,
and see if things behaves differently.

I say “will never happen”.

Still, i’ve never really done extensive editing on a Mac…
Just always will be a windows person.

Well Steve,
You work with other codecs just like you would with what comes with vegas…when you purchase a codec and install it, you can select it
during rendering in vegas where you can view its finished output.

But codecs and rendering is not what i would advise one to be focused
on…..Content quality and how you edit your scenes along with music, Audio integration, Color correction and Color grading with proper lighting,etc….these are the corner stone one should focus on to produce brilliant and visually appealing video content…and even seasoned professionals still aspire to perfect their work in these fields.

Your statement is a bit broad….be specific about the topics you really want to know here…you will get accurate and specific answers from the many members we have.

Yes,
Use “Blend Fields” as the deinterlacing method.
Leave it at that default setting.
If you want you can take a look at a handy little deinterlacing
plugin/filter called “smart De-interlace” over at
