O.K. I see,
vegas pro 8 needs .net framework 3 so uninstalling version 1.1
and all the others you mentioned is perfectly safe.
Will work perfectly by itself.

Proper color correction is what that footage needs to
really pop and really improve it.

Vegas is loaded with brilliant color correcting filters that
you need to sit down and get familiar with….color correction
is often easily overlooked by most…tweak,read up and browse
the net to understand this important part of post work.

The color corrector…secondary color corrector….and
color levels are the main filters to use to achieve this.
But remember…proper color correction is an art and
takes a detailed eye and time to master.

Sorry,
I am unable to run a test as such at the moment…But
nothing is wrong if you find a workaround as you have.

But it is indeed concerning that the newest vegas version
cant handle it, while the old version can.

No, No,
You first need to select the blu-ray option by going to
File…then properties…then when the box pops up, you
will see “Disc format” first in the column…click on it
and on the drop down you will see the “Blu-ray Disc” option.

What you are experiencing is not normal….Therefore
a video file you have in the timeline is causing vegas
to hang during rendering….or something installed on
your system is causing a conflict with vegas renders…
hard to say what.

Is there a better method that would ensure I keep the
best quality of the footage? …..NOOO

You have discovered the correct method…when you are done
importing, everything is laid out in order on the timeline
and in mpeg2 format, ready for editing.

use a DVD player and use the “capture” feature in Vegas
to capture the footage…..That is torture(LOL).

I think stephen,
Most are caught up in the mind set that Avid and FCP are
the utmost tools, and anything else is inferior and weak.

An illusion is also out there that anything created
using these tools are great and superior…LOL..and all create
the same finished product.

When working with stills on vegas timeline…you have to make
sure that you individually select “match output aspect” for
each picture….Then you can create your slideshow.
