Let that remain as the default Gaussian Blur
For high end De-interlacing, Pulldown and Film Motion..
I normally use Magic Bullet Frames or RE:Vision FieldsKit
    in After Effects.
However if im doing it in Vegas i simply use vasst celluloid
    24p conversion feature.

Sorry Stewart, I can’t assist you with that one.
I’ve never used VMS9 Platinum before, in order to
know what is going on with those help files.

If as you said you contacted Sony Creative about this,
(using the proper channel) just give them some time
    to respond.

Just go to the Trimmer window and disable the
    show video monitor button.

Mike has pointed it out clear for you.
Hoping though you are using the professional version of
vegas, because the Movie Studio versions does not have
    velocity envelope.

Did you go into preferences and made sure that
Enable HDV scene Detection is enabled?

You can take a look also at a free HD capturing tool
called CapDVHS and see if it can help out sometimes.

To a degree (Version 7.0e). But that is for Sony based
    AVCHD cameras.
So for best compatibility without issues using your
panasonic Lumix GH-1, upgrading to Vegas 8 is what
    i would highly recommend.

to your first question you need to click on the
event/pan crop window and then when the
window pops up you right click in the window and
select match output aspect for each video or each
    picture…..then all will fit accordingly.

For your second question try using the velocity envelope to
speed up your segments and see if the problem persists.

I just read on a separate thread that I should match my project settings to the video files im importing….That is true.

    1) to play on my PC———Windows Media Format (WMV).
    2) to burn to DVD———–MPEG2 Format.
    3) to burn on blu-ray——-MPEG2 Blu-Ray Format.(various templates)
