As Danny mentioned there is a difference in the file format why one works
smoothly and the other doesn’t.

I detest Windows Automatic updates, it offers no benefit or good to a
Video professional system. But if you dont make a living from your PC and only
use it in the evenings after work for a few minutes, then it really doesn’t matter, lol.

Although you only see one channel of audio when in Architect, does it

There is no advantage where video production is concerned! just if one wants
to experience a new interface with a few new features and the OS is stable
and fast, what harm then to do it? Windows 8 was a mess, Windows 10 isn’t.Would you still be using Windows 2000 now, even if all the
software on it was still efficient and fast and Windows 7 wasn’t any

You then obviously have keyframes enabled on the Position timeline

If you are not on Windows 7, indeed go with Windows 10, much better

If you can then, upgrade to the new version of Vegas Pro.
Your files will still be able to open, but as Aaron mentioned,
do not save over the files if you planning on going back to Version 9.
