Rather than creating quicktimes out of AE, render your graphics out as PNG sequences with alpha. This allows the Avid to use a pre-multiplied alpha channel, rather than a flat one. Your glows and lens flares will key much more cleanly.

    Hope this helps.

  • On Media Composer, I use the Curves tool in the color corrector. Select Master levels and create control points by clicking on the axis line to separate black, mid and high ranges. Then create more points on the in between and drag them around to move levels up or down. Just be sure you don’t let the black level creep up above the mid range levels, etc.

  • Which version of Avid are you using?

I just tested this out and yes, you can copy and paste locators from one clip to another. Cool trick.

Use this method courtesy of bsuttie in the Avid forums..

    https://www.avid.com/exchange/forums/post/145005.aspx

I knew someone was going to ask that !

OK, very useful if you have a finished master and a copy of the sequence and you want to digitise the master and subdivide it for colour correction etc. (you can also make the sequence from an EDL if you have that instead).

If your sequence is on V1, digitise your master and lay it on V2 in sync.

Add the “Reformat” “Pan and Scan” effect to V2 – note not Pan and Zoom !

Select both V1 and V2 tracks

Go into effect editor and in Pan and Scan actions select “subdivide effect” This will subdivide your master into clips based on the V1 sequence.

Remove the pan and scan effect.

Just a guess, but do you have mixed resolutions in your timeline?
For example, DV25 at 4:1:1 mixed with 1:1 at 4:2:2?
“DIFFERENT_SAMPLE_CNTS” may refer to the color sampling.

    Hope this helps.

May 4, 2007 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Symphony Nitris?

I agree with Bill that Symphony Nitris is a great finishing tool. However, DNxHD36 DOES NOT work with all HD frame rates. It is limited to progressive rates only.
    Specifically, 1080p/25, 1080p/24 and 1080p/23.976.
For projects that are 1080p/29.97, there is DNxHD45, and for 720p/23.976 there is DNxHD60.

I used to think that NTSC vs PAL was confusing. Man, I hate all these variations!!
