or… sell the decklink and get a MXO2. then you can take it mobile with a laptop to record from the camera when practical, as well as use it when editing. it has color managmenet on the HDMI port specifically to work better with LCD monitors.
however, your decklink _should_ be playing back. the reason it isn’t is that your video out setting doesn’t match your TL settings. both have to match. yet another thing that desperatly needs to be fixed in FCP – that FCP can tell hardware what setting it should use directly and just do it.

try command-W instead. I’ve found that when using a tablet, the close button on the window can be very tricky to get to work. OTH the keystroke always works.

there are also the matrox products as well. MXO2 is also portable and battery powerable. is also can scale SD to HD on input…. and has a box with real connectors on it which I find much better then a fan out cable, especially the 1/4 TRS connectors.

MXO2 will do exactly what you want, down convert or cross convert ( 1080 <>720 <> SD ) on output with nothing more then the change of its output settings. I normally edit in HD, then use the MXO2 for SD tape output or monitoring.

agreed. Matrox has put out new drivers to support new hardware & software as needed. the MXO has been a very stable box I really like, as well as the MXO2. since the product just works, I’ve not needed to call support, which I can not say for kona. I’ve swapped that card out several times via fedex.
