The next best thing will be the new ZuneHD which will be available in the fall. -
I suspect that the problem is with the format of the video on the camera.
Certain file types such as Mpeg use a series of I, B and P frames that are not as easily editable and may be the cause of the problem you are experiencing. You haven’t expressed what format the video is being captured in.
I see that the camera can record in AVCHD, mpeg4/H2.64 and mpeg2. Mpeg2 definitely has this frame structure. I’m not sure what you can do about that other then to render the complete file out to a better (easier to edit with) format such a DV or HDV.

Try importing the video’s again, this time using Vegas? You can set the capture to import 1 large file that you can split up later. Only catch is you need to be using the NTFS file system on your capture hard drive’s. Fat32 will only allow 4gb files and some programs will import the video in 2gb chunks. Not my favorite way of doing things. NTFS is best.

Leave snap on and slightly draw in the ends of each file to remove the dead air once you get them lined up.

Has this always happened using this camera?
Are you importing all the footage as 1 large file? Or just 1 clip at a time?
Are you having the capture software splitting the video files into clips?
Are you experiencing any audio to video sync problems?
Have you tried any other software NLE? Premiere (Adobe) has a trial version as well as Vegas Pro.

Under Options turn off “Quickfade Audio Edits”.In earlier versions you can turn off quickfades in the Preferences.

Why 1080P? Unless your viewing on a 42″ or larger screen HD screen, you won’t see it.

Are all the clips of the same type, size, frame rate and audio spec’s. I would suspect this could be a problem.

Could be an audio driver conflict. Do both computers use the same motherboard sound chip?

Are you seeing the audio peaks rendering bar? 1 of 4 means you have 4 files waiting to be rendered (on screen) You can cancel that if it never finished.
