I’ve got a weird one. I’ve been using Vegas since 4.0 and never seen anything like this. I’m editing a project with multiple windows in it, but never more than 5 at a time. I’m using the Cookie Cutter and Event/Pan Crop. Sometimes, after making adjustment to one, the other or both, when I return to the Timeline and press “J”, “L” or the Spacebar, Vegas crashes. Once or twice I’ve gotten a message telling me an “Exception” has occurred, usually Vegas just disappears. I’ve done far more complicated edits with previous versions of Vegas and nothing like this ever happened with this consistency.

Sony told me it was a “conflict” in my machine so I did a total wipe right down to Windows XP Pro and a complete reinstall. Same problem. So I tried it on another machine, same problem. Does anyone have any idea what’s going on?

    1st. PC:
    XP Pro
    Intel Quad Core
    Dual Quadro Video cards
    3 gb RAM

    2nd. PC:
    XP Pro
    Intel Pentium 4 3.40 GHz
    Quadro FX540

    Thanks, Arthur

Could be an audio driver conflict. Do both computers use the same motherboard sound chip?

Thanks Steve. I know that both machines have ASUS motherboards, but I don’t know about the audio chips. I’ll check into that and let you know.
