April 18, 2023 at 5:36 pm in reply to: 16 Tracking Error

    Hi Chip!

Sometimes it usually gives that error by some failure in a node of the composition in fusion, check that may be happening or with the tracking node sometimes usually give error for no apparent reason, try to redo the tracking with a new node, if it still does not work maybe you have to redo the whole process in a different timeline as something will have been corrupted along the way and simply does not make sense ….

if you can share a screenshot of your node tree it would help to visualize what the error might be.

    Hello Derek!

I agree with Ricardo, the two most important points for audiovisual works are the gpu and the cpu, and with your budget of 1500 or less you have several options that are very good, and I also recommend Ryzen, you can find the

-AMD Ryzen 7 5800X (for about 440 USD approx.)

    and a gpu,

-Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (for about 399 USD approx.)

I am also a supporter of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 however this one is already around 499 USD.

so the margin for the rest of things may be affected … as I understand that you will also need to buy, ram memory, motherboard, storage, cpu cooler, power supply etc …

for the ram memory I recommend these

-Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 3200MHz (approximate price: 190 USD)

starting from this base you will have a good margin to buy the rest of components, if you are looking for a motherboard make sure it is compatible with these components, one that is compatible with these and enters the budget may be the

-ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS (Wi-Fi) which costs around 180 $.

although prices may vary depending on where you live, stock etc… but this is the price I found!

April 16, 2023 at 2:02 pm in reply to: Davinci 18 and smooth playback

    Hi Alex!

Based on your system specs, you should have decent performance for video editing, so the lag issues you are experiencing are not normal.

It’s possible that the cause of the lag is that your system is processing the original video file at 4K resolution in real time, which can be very demanding for any hardware, even for a high-end workstation. That’s why setting the timeline resolution to a quarter of its original size helps ease the load and improve performance.

One possible solution is to use proxies, which are low-resolution versions of your original video files, but keep the same length and aspect ratios. These proxies are used in editing instead of the original video files, which significantly reduces the processing load on your system.

Smart caching can also help improve performance by caching parts of the timeline that have already been processed for smoother playback in future playbacks. However, it may not be enough to improve real-time editing performance.

I recommend that you try working with proxies to see if that improves editing performance. If you are still experiencing performance issues, you can also try closing other applications that are consuming resources in the background while editing as sometimes I’ve gone from editing to noticing that it’s heavy davinci and closed everything out and it worked… or consider updating your graphics card drivers or reinstalling your video editing software.

try those tips and if you still have problems let us know so we can go deeper into your problem and solve it!

April 15, 2023 at 11:22 am in reply to: 4k exr playback from NAS – on windows

Hi Andreas! To playback 4K EXR files in DaVinci Resolve smoothly, you need powerful hardware and a proper setup. Make sure you have a good CPU, such as Intel Core i9-11900K or AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, and a state-of-the-art GPU with at least 8 GB of video RAM. With 128 GB of RAM and a fast, high-capacity hard drive, you already have a good foundation. It’s also important to adjust the workflow settings in the application and make sure you have a high-speed, low-latency network connection. And yes, the CPU is likely to be the bottleneck in this case.

If your motherboard is compatible with the CPU and GPU you need, then there is no need to change it. You should check the specifications of your motherboard to make sure it is compatible with the CPU and GPU you want to install. If your motherboard is not compatible, then you will need to replace it along with other components needed to upgrade your hardware.

I hope that can help you if you have any questions with anything just let me know! 🙂

April 7, 2023 at 7:03 pm in reply to: Stills Export Naming Issues

Hi Areti Papaioannou! I think what is happening to you may be the following,

when exporting frames in DaVinci Resolve, the program creates a folder with the same name as the clip being exported. Within that folder, each individual frame is saved with a unique file name that includes the frame number and file extension.

As for the problem you are encountering, it is possible that the clip name is not being labeled correctly on the exported frames.

Here are a few steps you can follow and fix it:

Check that you have selected “tag frames with clip name” and “export frames with tag name” in the export settings. You can find these options in the “Output name” tab of the export settings.

Make sure that the name of the clip you want to use as a tag is entered correctly in the clip metadata. You can view and edit the metadata in the Media Pool by right-clicking on a clip and selecting “Clip Attributes”.

Try exporting a smaller number of frames to see if the problem persists. It is possible that the problem only occurs when exporting a large number of frames at a time.

If none of the above solutions work, you can try manually renaming the exported frames after the fact. You can do this by using a batch renaming tool or by renaming the files individually.

I hope this helps you to solve the problem you are experiencing with DaVinci Resolve. I tried to be as clear as possible so that it is not a mess, as it is easy to get lost with the frames… if you have any doubt or if you are not clear on any point let me know, I will be happy to help you!

April 7, 2023 at 6:54 pm in reply to: how to save video in full screen format

Hi Murilo Sena, I hope I can help you with what I know, here are a series of steps that will guide you to solve your question.

To leave the video in full screen format on mobile after editing it in DaVinci Resolve, you will have to export the video in the correct aspect ratio and resolution for your device.

Here are the steps to export the video in full screen format:

After finishing editing in DaVinci Resolve, go to the “Deliver” tab.

In the “Settings” panel, select the format and resolution you want to export the video to. You can choose a preset that matches your device or create a custom export setting.

In the “Video” tab, make sure the “Aspect Ratio” is set to the correct ratio for your device, usually 16:9 for most smartphones.

Choose the appropriate export codec and adjust the quality settings if necessary.

Finally, choose the export destination and click “Export” to start the export process.

Once the export is finished, you can transfer the video to your cell phone and play it in full screen format.

if you have any doubt with the steps you can ask me and I will be happy to solve it with you!
