    Hello everyone,

I am using DaVinci 18.1.4 for creating daily stills from Arriraw open gate footage. The problem I am dealing with is the following: even though I selected “label stills with clip name” and also “export stills with label name” when I export the stills I get a file with one clip name and inside that I find all my stills with “untitled” as name. I don’t understand why DaVinci creates a folder in the first place or why it skips using labels as a naming format. Has anyone ever dealt with something like that or know any deeper insights on how DaVinci exports stills?

Thanks in advance for any response!

Hi Areti Papaioannou! I think what is happening to you may be the following,

when exporting frames in DaVinci Resolve, the program creates a folder with the same name as the clip being exported. Within that folder, each individual frame is saved with a unique file name that includes the frame number and file extension.

As for the problem you are encountering, it is possible that the clip name is not being labeled correctly on the exported frames.

Here are a few steps you can follow and fix it:

Check that you have selected “tag frames with clip name” and “export frames with tag name” in the export settings. You can find these options in the “Output name” tab of the export settings.

Make sure that the name of the clip you want to use as a tag is entered correctly in the clip metadata. You can view and edit the metadata in the Media Pool by right-clicking on a clip and selecting “Clip Attributes”.

Try exporting a smaller number of frames to see if the problem persists. It is possible that the problem only occurs when exporting a large number of frames at a time.

If none of the above solutions work, you can try manually renaming the exported frames after the fact. You can do this by using a batch renaming tool or by renaming the files individually.

I hope this helps you to solve the problem you are experiencing with DaVinci Resolve. I tried to be as clear as possible so that it is not a mess, as it is easy to get lost with the frames… if you have any doubt or if you are not clear on any point let me know, I will be happy to help you!

    Where are these settings exactly?
