April 18, 2023 at 5:36 pmHi Chip!
Sometimes it usually gives that error by some failure in a node of the composition in fusion, check that may be happening or with the tracking node sometimes usually give error for no apparent reason, try to redo the tracking with a new node, if it still does not work maybe you have to redo the whole process in a different timeline as something will have been corrupted along the way and simply does not make sense ….
if you can share a screenshot of your node tree it would help to visualize what the error might be.

April 20, 2023 at 5:20 amI can see that it is something very simple, what is the purpose of the tracking? do you want to stabilize, transfer the tracking information to an image? because it is likely that the problem is that you are not adding anything in the green arrow of the track node and that is the cause of the error

April 20, 2023 at 4:02 pmTransfer data, yes. Tutorial I watched showed tracking first then adding object. But I have been unable to complete the track. If that’s incorrect, I am all ears! Used color for awhile, still ‘getting wet’ with Fusion!

April 20, 2023 at 5:49 pmof course! well that can be a cause of the error with the composition, what exactly happens that does not let you complete the track? try to try another tutorial that explains the same thing, in fusion you can do a job in different paths and methods, sometimes some work better than others, it’s a matter of trying and stay with the one that works best.

April 20, 2023 at 5:54 pmI set the track point, hit track and the error in the screen shot pops up. Nada. I’ll try more troubleshooting and return here if I again hit the wall. Thanks !

April 23, 2023 at 8:01 amIs your source clip in mp4 format by any chance? Switching hardware decoding might help. If it’s on, try to turn it off, and vice versa.
Also, while tracking it is better to monitor the tracker node, not media out. Drag the node into one of the viewers, or select it and press 1 or 2 for the left or right viewer.

April 23, 2023 at 6:02 pmGood point on decoding. Turns out the tracker was not properly connected! I simply deleted and pulled in a new one and that was it. Another forum pointed out the tracker might just be sitting ‘on top’ and sure enough that did it.

April 24, 2023 at 1:45 pmI’m glad you were able to solve the problem! indeed, sometimes in fusion these things happen that just do not make sense and the solution is usually the simplest, delete and re-remove a new node, at least it usually works for me when things do not work and you have everything well connected.
