It should be possible for the program to find all of the files in one directory, meaning you only need to do it four times. If not, then there is something odd about the way your files are listed. Sorry. No real help, other than to tell you your initial thought is correct.

There is a benchmark site that allows you to see what other Premiere Pro users are editing on. And you see the time differences in rendering and exporting.

If I were you, I would export a WAV file and then use third party software to write it out to a CD. I use free MusicMatch.com software.

Actually, video shot at 320X240 and exported at that size will look as good as 720X480 compressed to 320X240, with all else being equal. But all else is seldom equal. The DV camera will likely have better glass. And possibly three CCDs so it will almost inevitably look better.

If you put a small 320X240 clip into a 720X576 frame, which is standard for PAL, you will get a postage stamp out. You must either create a custom project with a 320X240 frame size, or you must scale up the video to fit the larger frame before you export back out to 320X240.

What kind of camera are you using and how are you capturing the video? It looks like you are starting out to small to begin with.

Basically, most people use After Efects to use Photoshop-like filters on video. After Effects has been called “Photoshop on Steroids”, but it really is more “Photoshop in Motion”.
