If you organized them in your Project Window instead of on the sequence, you could “Automate to Sequence” which allows you to select a transition.

I have never seen text move all by itself. Please be very specific and tell us your project settings.

Wait until the very end of the project before you add transitions. Or learn to use more straight cuts. In the meantime, submit a feature request to Adobe to add a “replace footage” command.

There are many advantages, some of which include better realtime previewing and nested sequences. The workflow is generally faster once you get used to it.

You can do it before you put the pictures on the timeline, not after. Once they are on the sequence, you need to get used to using Page Down and Ctrl-d to apply the default transition.
Before you put them on the sequence, you can “Automate to Sequence” and tell it to overlap them and put in a transition.

Which card? There are a few. If you mean the DVStorm, Canopus did not support Premiere Pro 2.0 as far as I know.

If I were you, I would probably bring the 24p footage into a new project, and then export it to the same format you are using in your main project.

Keep in mind that if you scale them down to under 50% in Premiere Pro, the rendering time goes way out of whack. Only scale t0 over 50%. If you scale them in Photoshop with that in mind, you will be happier.
