Stills Resolution

It depends on what format you are working in, and whether or not you plan or zomming in / Panning across the images.

If you are working in DV, and are simply cutting between images, export from your image editor at 648×480 (Photoshop default / square pixels)

If you will be zooming in, the easiest is to just keep them at their native resolution, unless we are talking 8+ Megapixels; in this case you may want to reduce that resolution a little to avoid bogging down your machine.

Keep in mind that if you scale them down to under 50% in Premiere Pro, the rendering time goes way out of whack. Only scale t0 over 50%. If you scale them in Photoshop with that in mind, you will be happier.

If using photoshop to work on the stills, its best to use its video presets to presize before import, if using motion controls in Ppro to pan or zoom it helps to use even multiples of the presets for image sizes, also formats like bmp, tif and tga tend to work best
