I sure hope that the Premiere Pro implementation on the Mac is as good as that on the PC. Or FCP will wipe the floor with it. If it is as good as on a PC, FCP is going to lose its monopoly on the Mac and probably will get a lot better, very quickly, in self defense. So, can Adobe keep up the race? That’s the real question. If Adobe wants to play in the Mac sandbox, it is going to have to be big and tough and bully FCP around, at least now and then, in between the leapfrog advances both applications need to make.

If the graphic is black and white, put it on track V3 with the video on V2. Set V2 to use V3 as a Track Matte and poke out the eyeball on V3.
You will get the video in the text or the gradient fepending on what is white and what is black. If it is backwards, reverse the track matte setting.

Look in your project window. Unless you renamed it, it will be “Sequence 01”. Doubleclick on it.

Or use a 16-point garbage matte on a blurred (or mosaic applied) copy of the same clip. Put it on the next higher track.

Premiere Pro will easily stress your harware to the maximum. SO not having the same problem with other software means nothing. I can’t imagine having a PC without Internet access, but you can always take it to work or to a friends house I would guess.

Did you download the latest drivers for your video card? By the way, troubleshoot this with DV captured from a camera. It eliminates other issues that could cause confusion.

What does it do? It helps you keep track of where you are in the timeline, and helps you organize your clips from your tape.

I don’t know what you mean by timecoding. Do you mean showing it on the screen or just knowing it is there? Or using timecode to help batch capture?
If you have not used it so far, you probably don’t need to think about it.
