That is not an option. There are programs that can capture directly to MPEG-2 video that is ready for use with a DVD, but then it is not suitable for editing.

If you want to export DV captured from a DV camera by FCP to a PC, you should put it back on a tape and recapture on the PC.
There is no really good way to get from FCP to Premiere Pro.

It can’t be done. There are too many choices, and it is more an art than a science. There is no cheat sheet. Pick a format and experiment. Your footage might look fine in one format and no in another. It really depends on the amount of movement (changes from one frame to another).

Camtasia is the way to go. Don’t try to edit it in a DV project though. Edit it in CAmtasia for the best results.

Similar is an understatement. When I did my Premiere Pro 1.5 tutorials for Lynda.com, I merely copied the tutorials for FCP using the same footage to get the same result. There were very few differences. Superficial things like the difference between modifier keys, or dropping an item in a very specific place within the track. Stuff like that.
I think we will be able to take part in a feature war the likes of which we have not seen since Lotus 123 and Excel went head to head. That is, if both parties want to play.

As long as you use an uncompressed Quicktime, like with the Animation codec, you should not be losing quality.

This is really more an After Effects kind of thing. Vector Paint can be recorded live as you make the strokes. Holding the Shift key down while painting is simple enough. Give it a try. It is, however, only available in After Effects Pro.

If I understand you, you exported a video with a black background. You probably wanted to export it with an Alpha Channel. If so, export as Quicktime using the Animation codec, and make sure you pick Millions of Colors+ where the “+” is important. It means “plus alpha channel”.
Or, you could save space by exporting the alpha channel separately.
