Be aware that HDV can not be viewed that way. For HDV you need a graphics card that has component outputs, like the Matrox Parhelia PAVe or the NVidia Quadro FX-560.
If you mean DV, then it is probably a setup in your camera.

Well, if you were on a PC I would just tell you to pay $20 for the Motion JPEG codec and be done with it. But my research failed to find a Mac version.
My guess is that you should open the file in Quicktime Pro and export it Quicktime DV.

Yes, it could be an issue. Use a program like GSpot to figure out what codec was used to encode the video. The term “AVI” is very generic and can be created with many codecs.

Connect up your camera via firewire and then connect the composite outputs over to the television or monitor. If your TV does not have composite inputs then use a VCR to pass the signal through.
There are devices you can buy to do the same job. Check out the Canopus ADVC110 or any of the other ADVC units.

#15 – No. I always just use a 3rd party app to rip from a CD. I suppose it would be a handy thing to have though.
As for #13. I keep a PDF on my web site for version 1.5 but I never saw an update for 2.0. I suppose I could publish one myself for CS3. With it all laid out in front of you it isn’t too tough. And if you know how to do it with a menu, it is easy enough, I believe, to find that menu in the Keyboard Customization dialog.
I submitted an article that should be published any day now here on the COW that explains the differences between Premiere Pro 2.0 and Premiere Pro CS3 keyboard shortcuts. I also provided a keyboard file that recreates the 2.0 version as close as I could.

You can always copy and paste, but it isn’t a perfect solution. Why not nest? In any case, it was not added.
2. Audio meters when capturing
Capture over firewire is a digital transfer. Even if you had meters they wouldn’t help you any. No, CS3 didn’t add it and I doubt it will ever be added.
3. Add edit to single clip without using the cut tool.
I don’t understand the question. You can use a hotkey, is that what you mean?
4. A timecode window (big and bright)
The timecode effect was added in 2.0 – what is the purpose of a big window? No, not added.
5. Easier to navigate bins in capture window
No change that I noticed. But bins are better.
6. Better Bin navigation (I know they fixed this)
Much better.

No, just tracks.

If you mean it takes all of your multiple CPUs into account, then yes. If you mean it does background tasks, then no.

Yes, the slow motion is much improved.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with the way keyboard shortcuts are set, but no, there were no changes.

I believe that the Project Manager came into being with version 1.5 so use it to collect all of your files and then you should be able to easily transfer everything.

If you create a new project, import one captured DV AVI file, add a simple title, and then render, how does it come out?
Basically I am asking if it is a Premiere Pro installation problem or perhaps just a problem with that one project.

What are your project settings? Your media type? Did you try with a fresh project and a single clip? We can’t help without enough information.
