DV start stop detect will scan your clip and place markers each time the camera was stopped and restarted.

Before you buy a really cheap enclosure, you might consider that one of the things that makes it cheap is power supply design.
Poorly isolated and/or regulated power supplies might put aberrant voltages onto the signal lines, and this could contribute to the card failure.

What are you trying to do? Can you give an example?
(Do you want to make “Switched on Bach” which was J.S. Bach compositions performed on a sythesizer?)

Colon is how a path is described in FCP, so not a good character for file name.
To be safe in Unix, here’s a basic list of no-nos for file names (besides colon, which is bad for FCP):
Characters you should not use in filenames:
| ; , ! @ # $ ( ) < > / \ ” ‘ ` ~ { } [ ] = + & ^ -
I would look at your permissions, to see if the user running FCP has access permissions to all the files.

Just think “The frame I am seeing in the Canvas or Viewer will be the out frame, it will be included”.
Because why wouldn’t the application show you the frame that the action will apply to? If you don’t want that frame included, go back one frame.
