Is it possible your camera is set to record audio at 32Khz, instead of 48Khz. 48Khz, in the camera can also be shown as 16 bit. If it is set to 32Khz, or other than 16bit,I’ve had problems with some edit systems.

    Hope this helps.

Hey, that is a great idea, I’m thinking to create a “default” project set up with everything I want bins, premade graphics, etc. etc. then open that project and resave it as a new name when starting a project.

  • 🙂

I remember it from college (I’m not quite so old yet), A B Negative cutting, fades and dissolves had to be in multiples of 8 frames (or was it 16 frames?)

Cutting on a flatbed in 16mm, never quite worked with an upright.

    Hi, thanks.

I’m sure I will find the way to customize it the way I want, just in time to move to FCP 7. I’m already getting used to the interface, and I like being able to use nodes on the video as well as audio clips. I am used to AB tracks for dissolves though, miss that.

As far as linking clips, it is something I will get used to, but I’d rather be able to have clips on the timeline that are either linked or unlinked, and the choice be clip based. This may change, but right now I think it is because I am used to using a mouse and two screens, and using a laptop and having to slide back and forth on the track pad to a button is straining my hand. 🙂

Cool, thanks.About the clips being linked, If I put a clip on the timeline, and move the audio or video, if the linking button on the timeline isn’t selected the clips aren’t linked.

Might not be explaining what I want here, thanks again for the response, I’ll check ’em out and use them.

  • Yep those buttons.

What the responder was saying about the dissolve is right, there needs to be handles on both clips, otherwise it will just give you on frame, but if you double click the effect to get the dialog, you can slide and extend the dissolve.

I’m using non additive for dissolves, but checking out the nodes.

  • Just a thought, if you want double click on the fade/dissolve, and you can set it to be either a fade in, fade out, or dissolve. Changing from one to the other may do what you want.

The other thing I just discovered by activating the overlay mode, you can actually set node points to fade up or down a clip.

I’m still playing around with this.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, that is great, and WOW, I can do the same to the video as well, sparing me that clunky Fade effect – always a pain to place.

What is the advantage to toggling the Overlay option off I wonder?

    Thanks again.

Thanks, it finally dawned on me that I was putting .avi files on the timeline. Sooooo, I finally just exported them from a bin as Quicktimes, and now they work without rendering.

Thanks again, your post got me to see the problem.
