I’ve gotten used to (on another edit system) starting my projects at 01:00:00;00 with the timeline starting at 00:58:00;02 and lasting an hour.so I have room in front of my project for scrap work or extending clips and shifting the project, etc. etc.

Trying to do that with FCP 6, and although the timeline seems to extend automatically as I put clips on it, wanted to find a way to set the default timeline start up duration to be at least 10 min or so. Any ideas?

Thanks, and I appreciate all the help so far.

Great question/issue. What I do on every project is create a slug and drag it to the right to make the timeline as long as I want it. I have my timeline set at 005830 to start so I can put up bars and whatnot. So my programs start at 1 hour and it’s really easy to keep up with the time issues.

Hey, that is a great idea, I’m thinking to create a “default” project set up with everything I want bins, premade graphics, etc. etc. then open that project and resave it as a new name when starting a project.
