I know my cost to obtain a client runs anywhere from $32.50 – the person who calls with an emergency and I have a 10 minute conversation to get them on my schedule – to around $1,500.00 if I’m going to have a meeting, do some research, write a proposal, take them to a not-too-fancy dinner, have a few calls & send a few emails. If they like a $200 bottle of wine with dinner, I better be pretty darn sure I’m going to make a sale.

    Totally agree with Mark.

Could be that your pricing is too low. Seriously. Some agencies like to have a certain price range they stay in for “value of services.” I’ve actually had one agency tell me to bill them more because they passed my direct invoice on plus their markup…. 40%. The higher my bill, the more they make.

Maybe it’s time to reevaluate your price structure.

ABSOLUTELY do NOT call client B back to discuss money! That is none of their business. You are hired by Agency A – you only respond to them. Ethics go a long way these days. You should CALL, not email, Agency A and let them know that you were contacted outside of the scope of your production responsibilities and want to remain in good standing with them. Why lose 2 clients. You can inform Client B that it is not your place to discuss costs as you are not their direct vendor and they should contact the Agency A if they have pricing concerns.

If either A or B balk at their relationship with each other, you still come out ahead! You’ve kept peace with A, who should still call you, and peace with B who will come back to you directly. now you can discuss costs, not to mention you are in a better position to act as a 2 roles for them, agency and production.

I contacted one of my media buyers and he tells me he’s purchased time in PA markets and doing it currently. He didn’t specify, but we have multiple Comcast regions, Time Warner & one other.

Start the cams rolling pointing to the middle of the table, walk in, put you hands in the center of the frame and clap your hands once. Line that up on your sequence.

Use a slate if you need to look more pro, $50. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/854289-REG/ikan_ts01_Tablet_Production_Slate.html

    Software like Pluraleyes. https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html

Personally I use a physical slate; 3 cams you have set up wouldn’t see an iPad slate.

Yep, I’m familiar with editing the post, just wondering specifically on the classified forum after I sell an item and it’s no longer available, do you/the cow suggest/prefer removing the post altogether or adding the word “sold” to the subject line.

Totally agree with Scott. I have a Dynastar coat that is long and comes down well below my waist. Good coats have drawstrings/velcro/elastic around the waist, wrists & neck. Look for zippered vents in the armpits and convertible hoods too. Most have lots of zippered pockets inside and out.

Just to bring closure to this…

I hooked up my mobilepre and all is well. Apparently the iMic and built-in audio do not support live preview except in the Multitrack mode of Audition. Not only does the mobilepre give me live monitoring of the input but also simultaneous playback of the currently open file

Actually in the waveform mode, the meters move (by double clicking them) but no monitoring.

I’ve watched about 6 tutorials about basic setup on the Adobe site and various people on Youtube and when they punch record, they seem to be able monitor the input, yet nobody makes mention of this being a function that needs to be turned on. Seems like it should be as intuitive as the “I” button on the multitrack.

    Appreciate your thoughts.
