I’ll put you up to another test. You have to do this on your own since you have some free time. It’s also the best way to learn. Search for Tapeless Workflow with Final Cut 7 by Shane Ross. Even though you have FCP 6, this will still work for you. There is an easier way to get footage from your 5D into FCP without using MPEG Streamclip.

The only safe way is to have the original disks or disk images. Migration is not going to work.

You don’t need to make them at all in Motion. There are already a large amount of preset animations inside Motion. Library/Behaviors/Text Sequence

The main support without the support rod is being sold by a few different vendors under a couple different names. The Spider Steady and Premium Movie Kit Shoulder Mount. The price is only $69.

You can natively open an FCP 6 project in FCP 7. This will not cause any issues. The only way to open the FCP 7 project back in FCP 6 is by using XML export.

Instead of copying directly to the hard drive, if at all possible, connect your drive and Camera to a computer.

Check ShotPut Pro from Imagine Products. This will offload P2 cards in a safe and efficient manner.

Easy setup creates sequences settings for you. .MOV is just an extension. FCP likes codecs such as ProRes, DV. Codecs such as h.264 do not work well with FCP.

Open your mov files in QuickTime and check out the codec. It’s located under format.
