Keep it simple. Use Free Run Timecode. To jam sync the time code, all you need to do is set camera 1. Connect a BNC cable to that camera’s Timecode out to Camera 2’s Timecode In. Disconnect cable from Camera 2 and connect Camera 3 Timecode In. Disconnect all cables and you are set. The only time you need Genlock is if you are recording a Live event with multiple cameras connected to a switcher.

You only need to connect 1 mic to 1 camera for a clean audio feed. The only way for your audio to go out of sync is if one of your cameras frame rate is different. You will get good enough audio from the on camera mics.

If the background noise is picked up on the mics, there is not much you can do. You may be able to find the frequency of the background noise and lower using EQ.

You can use Log and Transfer with the Canon plug-in to transcode footage to ProRes.

In order for FCP to work correctly, you will need the original install discs. A finder copy will not install all the files needed.

1. You can take your old hard drive and use that as a boot disc.
2. You can clone your old hard drive and use it as a boot disc.

As instructed by Shane’s tutorial, copying the complete card structure is essential for Log and Transfer to work correctly.

What are your system specs? Model, RAM, HD, etc.

The HPX500 SDI output is DVCProHD. The KiPro takes the SDI in and converts that signal to ProRes.

Yes. DVCPro HD from the HPX-500 will record ProRes on the KiPro and ProRes or DNxHD on the Atomos.
1280×720 and 1920×1080.
