Is the HD-SDI output of an HPX500 full HD if recorded on an external recorder such as Atmos or KiPro?

Yes. DVCPro HD from the HPX-500 will record ProRes on the KiPro and ProRes or DNxHD on the Atomos.
    1280×720 and 1920×1080.

So then you are saying the SDI out is DVCPROHD for sure, then?

The HPX500 SDI output is DVCProHD. The KiPro takes the SDI in and converts that signal to ProRes.

Hey guys, we’re looking to test and see if the HPX500 can be used with the Atomos Samurai Blade (it doesn’t show compatible but it’s still HD-SDI so why wouldn’t it?). We don’t care about the extra features that work on “compatible” cameras, just to be able to record from the HD-SDI into ProRes with a large capacity HDD in the Atomos Samuarai Blade.

Did it work out for you?

We used a AJA Kai Pro and my idiot DP sent TC to it so I never saw more than 20 seconds before freaking out and leaving the studio after the whole day went down the toilet.
