[Charlie Austin] “I think they’re trying to make a great, game-changing NLE.”

    They’ve done that already!

[Charlie Austin] ” The debate is really whether they’re doing it quickly enough”

I’d like to see more pace in it’s development, but we may all be surprised next week!

[Charlie Austin] “In any case, what they’re doing is certainly is having an effect on the design and features of other NLE’s.”

It’s certainly had a positive effect on PPro, look at “hover scrub” and the new clip level colour controls are obviously inspired by the Color Box in FCPX’s inspector.

April 9, 2015 at 8:02 pm in reply to: Yosemite Update – OS X 10.10.3

[David Roth Weiss] “It may well be that the majority of X users are on Yosemite, but if you also use Adobe apps with Cuda, better beware of Yosemite and the latest Cuda drivers.”

I wonder if the latest version of CC will offer a fix to these problems?

Desperately hoping the next FCPX update will fix this. I tried an edit in the new version of iMovie the other day and it had none of these issues. Might be a good sign!

[Kevin Monahan] “May not be your cup ‘o tea on this forum, however. 😉

There are some of us here that use BOTH PPro and FCPX 🙂

[Andrew Kimery] “If software prices get driven down below the point of sustainability then software makers “

Adobe’s Perpetual license costs weren’t being driven down before they decide to go subscription only, it was probably because not enough people were upgrading regularly enough which may or not be the same thing I suppose.

[Andrew Kimery] “And this is one reason we are seeing an uptick in software subscriptions. When both companies (like Apple, BM, etc.,) and users devalue software what forms of recourse do software companies have?

    “

    That’s a bit of a leap!

[Douglas K. Dempsey] “I probably means simply that they don’t see it as a pro-only app to be tweaked every few months; it’s working well for the user base. And the constant inflow of third party apps and plug-ins is in some ways the updates everyone is looking for.
    “

I’d be happy with the interface being flattened and de-chromed and some speed improvements.

[Oliver Peters] “Actually there’s no indication that this purchase has anything to do with the OS or any Apple app. The article speculates that it could be to shore up Apple’s servers.”

    I wasn’t being entirely serious 🙂
