But be careful…using Project Manager to trim a project and remove unused media can eliminate assets that you may want to have handy later on. For instance, if there are media assets that you may need to change out for future episodes that you use the Show Opening, but don’t happen to be actually on the timeline at the moment, they’ll disappear from the Project Panel, and you’ll have to go looking for them the next time you need them.

This works well if you don’t need to make changes to the ‘Show Opening’ sequence. It also takes up extra drive space, which may or may not be an issue for you.

Maybe not the best way, but here’s how we handle that very issue…
Save the current ‘March project’ into your Master folder as “Show Opening.prproj”.
Open that project and delete all sequences except the ‘Show Opening’ sequence. Also delete all media not associated with that sequence.
Import “Show Opening.prproj” into any other project that you need it in.

2 ways….
1 – Nest the clips into a Nested Sequence, then apply filter(s) to that.
2 – Apply the filter(s) to one clip, adjust to the desired settings, save that as a preset. Select all clips you need to apply the filter to, and drag the preset onto the selected clips.
Should be obvious which method is easier.

By “flashes” I assume you mean a ‘film gate flash’ type of transition. In Premiere this is easily done with a ‘Dip-to-White’ transition, and set the transition duration to about 8 frames or so. Not an exact ‘film gate flash’, but close, and a lot easier. A truer version may be done in AE.

We’re liking it…a lot. I mean a whole lot. Granted, we didn’t just upgrade…we built a whole new machine for it, and put 16GB of RAM in it. 64bit is wonderful…and way overdue in this HD world. We edit AVCHD media, and CS4 was really a pain, with having to do a Cineform transcode and all. Now we can play our AVCHD media with the same reality that we played Cineform files on CS4.

Excellent! I’m going with the EPS solution…somewhat easier which is important at this stage of the learning curve. I’ve developed a new situation, though. In the example video the flying boxes have no lighting applied…they’re just flat colors. Is there a way to achieve this look in the method I’m using?
